From the Hills to the Beach

Cinque Terre means "Five Lands," so there is much to see (and eat, and drink) in this region. Today, Base Camp made it to the village of Corniglia...
and the beach in Vernazza.

The Hills of Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre is the little-known Italian Riveria, the birthplace of pesto, and famous for its wine and fresh seafood.
Now it's had a little taste of Base Camp brew, and is all the better for it.

My Base Camp Story

I discovered Base Camp beer in early May, 2013, after riding past their brewery on my bike countless times before they officially opened.  I like it a lot, and thought my friend Brian, who's living in Vienna for his job, would enjoy it, too. Brian longs for IPAs, and I thought with their metal bottles, Base Camp would be perfect to throw into our checked luggage when my wife and I visited Brian in the spring.

I emailed Base Camp via their website, and asked what varieties they bottle, explaining that my Pacific Northwest friend was longing for a taste of home. A Pils and an IPL was the answer, but Joey at Base Camp said since he was bottling up some other varieties for a beer competition he'd bottle up some IPAs for Brian.

I picked up the bottles at the brewery, and all they asked in exchange was a high five.

Their kindness and great service inspired me to show the journey that their delicious beer took.

Here is a Base Camp IPA ( bottle says IPL, but we know what's really in there) in Prague.
Thank you, Joey, and everyone at Base Camp. Stay tuned as the adventure continues.
